Remembering Ted Sizer

Filed under: Public education — Tags: — Patte Barth @ 9:57 am

Ted Sizer was a legend in education reform, and it’s with deep regret that we mark his passing earlier this week. As the founder of the Coalition of Essential Schools, Sizer gave us a new language for thinking about what school could and should be, including the emphasis on critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and the essential but hard-to-achieve dictum governing curriculum design, “less is more.”  Although he will be sorely missed, his legacy has already been assured. – Patte Barth
